I had a very interesting dream the other day:
I saw a commercial jetliner crash-land in the ocean. Most passengers were able to escape to a nearby deserted island. On this island were dinosaurs. There were large herbivores and small carnivores (about the size of cats, ferrets, and small to medium dogs). Many of the small dinosaurs resembled dragons, but everyone was calling them dinosaurs. Some of the young adults, youth, and children were playing with the small dinosaurs and occasionally were nipped by them. No one went near the large dinosaurs for fear. A few days later, the people who were nipped by the small dinosaurs began to swell up, turn purple and die. I understood they had gotten a hemorrhagic blood disease from these animals. Suddenly, all the dinosaurs went underground into a kind of hibernation. I understood that this hibernation would last for two weeks then the dinosaurs would emerge again. Many of the older people were trying to explain to the youth that they had to stay away from these animals, but the young people wanted to play with them anyway. The “educated” adults on the island were engaged in trying to find a way off the island before the dinosaurs emerged again. No one seemed concerned about dealing with, or defeating these little dragons.
Interpretation: God’s people are living their own lives, “flying” away from the warfare and difficulties around us. When our lives “crash”, all our efforts are put into escaping. In the meantime, our youth and children are “playing” with the cute little “dragons” calling them by another name (dinosaurs). Some are getting bitten and being taken out by the enemy, but they still want to play with “dragons” and refuse to listen to the adults. The generations should be aligning with each other to defeat the enemy, but they each have totally different agendas.
As I look around me, I see the youth of today being sucked in by the devil to all manner of fleshly endeavors. When I was young, some people lived together out of wedlock, there were some drug addicts, a few lived in adultery and all manner of sexual sins, but the majority DID NOT, and these activities were frowned upon. Vampires and witchcraft were considered evil, not romanticized. Movies and music for the most part, were uplifting and entertaining, not filled with every manner of filth and violence.
The prophets are all saying that the generations should be connecting, but by all appearances it looks like they are pulling apart! It’s SO obvious that we need each other. The older generations have a wealth of wisdom and experience. The youth have exuberance and energy. We have got to put this together before the older ones are gone and the youth are decimated.
Deuteronomy 6 says:
“so that you will fear Adonai your God and observe all his regulations and mitzvot that I am giving you – you, your child and your grandchild – as long as you live, and so that you will have long life.” (Deut 6:2, CJB) “These words, which I am ordering you today, are to be on your heart; and you are to teach them carefully to your children. You are to talk about them when you sit at home, when you are traveling on the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” (Deut 6:6-7, CJB)
From what I can see, we have left this all-important aspect of our children’s education to public school teachers and once a week on Sunday mornings. I have some very important questions that MUST be asked of my generation. Are we really living the precepts (mitzvot) of the Lord, or are we going through the motions? Are we DAILY setting an example for our children and grandchildren of what Godly behavior looks like? Are we praying and trusting God for the answers, or do we consistently do things in our own strength and insight? Are we teaching our children and grandchildren the things they will HAVE to know to survive in the evil day, or have we left their education to secular teachers, TV, video games, and the internet?
I know, I’ve read the end of the Book and God wins, but at what price? I am no longer willing to sacrifice my children and grandchildren on the altar of convenience and busyness. It’s time to place a mentoring program in place for my inheritance. The devil WILL NOT steal these from me!
