Yom Kippur- We Have an Appointment with God!

Yom Kippur scrollYom Kippur or the Day of Atonement begins this Friday evening, October 3rd, at sunset and ends Saturday evening at sunset. The Lord said, in His Word:

“The tenth day of this seventh month is Yom-Kippur; you are to have a holy convocation, you are to deny yourselves, and you are to bring an offering made by fire to Adonai. You are not to do any kind of work on that day, because it is Yom-Kippur, to make atonement for you before Adonai your God. Anyone who does not deny himself on that day is to be cut off from his people; and anyone who does any kind of work on that day, I will destroy from among his people. You are not to do any kind of work; it is a permanent regulation through all your generations, no matter where you live. It will be for you a Shabbat of complete rest, and you are to deny yourselves; you are to rest on your Shabbat from evening the ninth day of the month until the following evening.” Lev 23:27-32, CJB

Now many of you are saying that this is Levitical law and we are not under the law, but under grace. I want you to see, however, the picture that the Lord is painting for us. Yom Kippur ends the 10 days of Awe. This is a time, after the blowing of the trumpets (on Rosh Hashanah) that call us to awaken and be alert. We are to examine our hearts and come before the Lord in humility and repentance. This is one of the appointed feast days of the Lord. We have a yearly, scheduled appointment with God to come before Him! Note that He said in His Word that this is a “permanent regulation”. The Feast days were kept in the New Covenant by the first century apostles (Acts 21:26) with the completed understanding of Jesus’ fulfillment.

Right now, there is a LOT of prophetic chatter going out online. There is Rick Joyner’s warning dream, and Cindy Jacob’s and Chuck Pierce’s prophetic warnings for the years ahead. There is the significance of blood moons on Jewish feast days, and Jonathan Cahn’s warnings in The Harbinger and The Mystery of the Shemitah.

For those who don’t know the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, and His Messiah Jesus, there is a wondering nervousness- a waiting to see if these things are really so. Some will wait until it is too late. For the religious crowd- those who are convinced that their brand of scriptural interpretation is right, we are a bunch of fruitcakes! They can’t see or understand that major shifts are happening RIGHT NOW. They refuse to believe that Messiah is returning SOON. They want everything to continue just as it always has.

For many of us, we have passed through a long, dry season. We have prayed, interceded, fasted; done everything our Lord has asked of us. We have loved Him and long for His coming. Many of our prayers and the prophecies we have received have gone unanswered. NOW, warnings are coming! What do we do WITH THIS!!!

This Yom Kippur, ALL OVER Israel, work will stop and the entire nation will fast, pray in their synagogues, and REPENT of their sins before God. It is the appointed time! Here in the USA, a few will do the same, but most Christians and Jews alike will play and feast as though the trumpet had not sounded and there was no danger at all! The warnings are everywhere! It’s past time for 2 Chronicles 7:14.

This Friday night to Saturday night, can we ALL PRAY and REPENT? Can we take just ONE DAY to meet with God? Who will join me? God promised to hear from heaven, but we have to first repent and cry out!
